Spikes' Bullpen Game Win Leads to Sweep of Keys

Last night, the State College Spikes took down the Frederick Keys to secure the sweep, winning by a score of 6-4. Here’s how it happened:
SPIKES STRIKE FIRST
After a 4-pitch inning from Ben Plumley in the top of the 1st, the Spikes got on the board in the bottom of the 1st inning with an RBI single from DH Robert Hipwell. CF Brock Wills added to the fun in the bottom of the 2nd inning with a fielding error by the Keys. In that same inning, 1B Hayden Moore scored on an RBI single.
KEYS TAKE THE LEAD
The Keys got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning when SS Elijah Clayton scored on a Jordan Williams groundout. With the bases loaded in the top of the 4th inning, C Irvin Escobar walked to bring in a run. That same inning, they took the lead in the top of the 4th inning when Elijah Clayton brought 2 runs across on a single to right field.
MR. RELIABLE
The Spikes tied up the game with an RBI triple from CF Brock Wills, then took the lead with a Tyson Bass single to right field in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Spikes extended the lead with a Manny Jackson RBI groundout in the bottom of the 7th inning. RHP Blake Purnell, perfect on the year in saves, sealed the deal with a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the 9th that included 2 strikeouts.
